FML: Moments in time

CountING life in moments

The spring time dew kisses my sweet lips

Blowing life into the cold grey shell

I come alive sprouting imperfect perfection

A fleeting beauty, so fragile, so pure

Counting moments and not months

I serve as a gentle reminder

That life is overwhelmingly beautiful

Yet also tragically short

Hat: Uniqlo  |  Playsuit: Alice McCall (Stolen Dance Playsuit)  |  Shoes: Jo Mercer

Do you remember when you were a child and the days were so long?  When a year took forever to complete and Christmas was too far away?

Have you ever been so caught up in a moment that time stopped? And then in a second it’s over, never to repeat again. Maybe it was a moment of triumph, of accomplishment, or maybe it was a moment missed.

Each year I miss the Cherry Blossoms here in Sydney but this year I made sure to go see them!  I also combined it with a shoot featuring this gorgeous playsuit from Alice McCall, one of my favourite brands. Very fitting with the Cherry Blossom theme this piece features delicate and intricate lacing which I love.

I want to take a moment to talk about moments missed.  I find that life often throws you choices and opportunities that you only get a split second chance to seize, before you lose them forever.  I’ve learnt that if you’ve found someone special tell them and don’t let them go because finding a good person is rare. Or if you have the chance to travel or take on a new business venture, just do it.  You’ll gain so much more from taking the chance, than not and always left wondering about the what ifs.

Was there a time when you let a moment slip through your fingers?

Thanks Courtney!!

Thank you so much!

When I was a young soldier I volunteered for Special Forces (y’know, the “green berets”?) training. It was in the early 1980s when the U.S. Army was pretty desperate and allowed new soldiers to take the training course. It was difficult – I should never have been allowed to attend – but I was in the final week of the training when I failed out of the course. I tried again but I’d lost heart and voluntarily dropped out.

I went on to be a regular soldier for a time, but eventually got out to go back to graduate school. But had I passed the SF training I would very likely have gone on to an Army career. So that moment – the hour I and my whole class fell asleep and I failed my graded patrol – changed my life. For good or ill? I will never know.

That said, this is a perfect spring look, Talyssa, very light and airy. Did you go with sandals with it? Something simple – I like that you didn’t add anything fussy or complex, no jewelry or other accessories to the McCall outfit; it’s perfectly complex enough as it is – would have be just right.

Thanks for sharing this with me chief! Who knows though how you’re life could have been different than yours currently – I believe most things happen for a reason though :)

I did wear sandal type heels but as you said, very simple ones. The playsuit is the hero here and it should shine in all it’s glory haha!

What a beautiful Alice McCall playsuit and you really look lovely. So true, life is fleeting and make the most of it. Nice to read your blog.

Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed the post!

These photos are so beautiful! I love how the colors of the shirt compliment the spring flowers <3

Thank you! Yes I thought yellow would compliment the cherry blossoms perfectly!

Great dress. I love Alice McCall dresses. I can’t believe there are cherry blossoms there right now. Life is short. It’s always good to live in the moment more and treat others as if it’s the last time you’ll see them.
