The High Lord of the Night Court

What can I do
when the night comes
and

I break into stars?

Nothing, he said.
Break, and break again
and come back shining brighter

than you did before.

– An answer to the poem “Osmosis” by Nayyirah Waheed

“I think one of the most pathological things I have ever seen is stabbing someone and then telling them that their pain and anger over being stabbed is making you sad.” – Nayyirah Waheed

I’m sure we all have been unfortunate enough to meet a person like the above. Funnily, I always come across them in the workplace.

So many people get bullied at work. So many.  And in my current job, I’ve been there myself and it sucks.  It sucks wondering why your “friends” aren’t talking to you anymore, or hanging out in secret without you knowing.

This brings me onto the current book series I’ve been reading that inspired this post – “A Court of Thorns and Roses” by Sarah J Maas.  In the series, characters that appear to be charming and nice at first, end up being the detrimental ones, and the “darker, unfriendly” characters end up being the ones who are secretly fighting for a peaceful existence and culture.  But if you think the latter are weak you’d be wrong.  They are extremely powerful and get their revenge in the most satisfying was on anyone that has crossed them.

In my case at work, I had dark angels looking out for me.  Friends that I didn’t realise cared about my wellbeing.  They told me the rumours this person was saying behind my back in the office, to my friends and during work events that I had also attended.

And let’s just say I got my revenge too, shining brighter than ever before!

Oh, if you’re wondering, these photos were shot at the Pipilotti Rist exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art. Beautiful huh?
