FML: Woodland Picnic

Top: Miss Patina | Shorts: H&M | Shoes: Jo Mercer | Cardigan: Urban Outfitters

Escape to the Woods

Take the path untaken, travel an unexpected journey. Feel the wind in your hair, the sun on your face…and have a picnic!

OK. I realise that may have been a somewhat abrupt anticlimax. But I’m running on lack of sleep.  While I am aware the weather is getting colder, an autumn picnic is the perfect date idea. Why? Well it’s still warm enough that you can dress cute, but it’s also just that right amount of chilly that warrants a cosy snuggle under a blanket without it being too cold.

For this look, I matched my gorgeous Railway Girl Top from Miss Patina, with my denim shorts to add an essence of femininity to my casual denim shorts. I paired this with my favourite sandals (don’t you just love the stitching on these shoes!?) and completed the look with an off-white cardigan with elbow patch details.

Anyway, enough about fashion, there’s food to be had! Mmmmmm

Retro Vibes

If there’s one fashion item I always, always get compliments on it’s this one.  No matter if it’s from people at work or randoms at a cafe.  I actually purchased this top quite a while ago, but I still love wearing it – and I still get the compliments.  Why you ask?

I think it has a lot to do with rockin’ your own personal style.  I guess Siree and I have always branded ourselves as “fashion” bloggers, but I believe the correct term is that we’re style bloggers.  We love to share our personal style with you guys, regardless of whether it’s the latest thing in fashion and we hope you guys enjoy it too.

The great thing about having your own style is that it never goes out of fashion. And at the same time we never have to be on top of the latest “fashion” or adopt trends we don’t like just for the sake of staying relevant and timely on our blog.

So yeah, I like the style thang.

Thanks to @tnerbblog for the photos

Unlike Siree, I have a serious lack of winter clothes!  I find winter too cold that I often opt for comfort rather than style (I know, the blasphemy!).

It’s still pretty cold in Sydney and during one of my winter hauls, I found these cute polkadot pants from Zara.  Loving the vintage vibes, I bought them! Also on sale (and also from Zara) I found my new favourite blouse.  The photos don’t show it that well, but it’s a really nice, casual-chic looking blouse and I absolutely love the tiny button detailing.

On a side note, this was the last shoot I did in my apartment!  Two weekends ago I moved back home with the ‘rents for a myriad of different reasons – my apartment block was going to be knocked down at some point in the near future, my house mate was moving out and finding a new one is a tedious and terrible process and also, I’m going to France in a month and the prospect of paying rent while being on holiday with the possibility of not having a house mate – or a new one that I would know nothing about – wasn’t a pleasant one.

So here I am, feeling like I’ve taken a step back in life, but marching on full forward regardless.

Class Starts Now

… and you’re running around wondering what you are going to wear!

Attending the school of style and judging between rocking up in pajama party gear or better-look-like-I-ironed-this-shirt OOTD, the campus is a great place to play dress up or dress down (or forever in whatever works mode. I tend to get sloppier as the years went on).

Seeing this combo on a Zara mannequin, I knew I had to get ALL of it. But something was missing.

Although I wanted to add a proper bow-tie, I think this little bowsie brooch I whipped up gave it a whimsical touch playing the part of a good studious student, though I would never get to the lecture room on time to save my life.

Time to end this with a fashionably late pun!

Until Next Time!

The Week in Photos – and our first Blogshop!

Siree here!

Wow I’m finally back from travels (but that’s for another post sorray!)

We had our first blog shop exactly a week ago and it was great success with some pleasant surprises.  Here’s what you missed!

Tadah our store set-up. We got a bit high tech with the iPad for the Etude House and Skinfood cosmetics we had on display. It’s all in the details :)

Our variety of “ViVi” inspired vintage items got people curious which was wonderful! Personally, I feel our love for this style is still new and niche for a majority of people but we hope to spread the love around the Sydney scene more! Thanks to Little Treasures Market and Margaret from le petite mademoiselle for having us and to Blackflower Patisserie for all the macarons on the day! Not to mention everyone who came to visit (and to Shu for hanging out with us!) :)

My favourite piece from the stuff I got was this two-piece matchy set. So cute for that summer-by-the-pool kind of vibe. No doubt the person who bought it also thought it was adorbs!

The weather in Sydney has been pretty shiot lately I must say. Cold, rainy than a hint of sun just to tease us blah! But I capped off the busy week with some festive Thanksgiving dinner at Neutral Bay with the home sick office folk!

Couldn’t get past all the pumpkin hype! Got some pumpkin ale from Seattle to wash everything down.

The menu includes honey glazed ham, prime rib and oven-roasted turkey, cornbread, stuffing, *gasps for air* green beans, candied yams, sweet potato pie, succotash and mash potatoes. Absolutely yummo! Dessert was pecan, apple and pumpkin pie! Would’ve liked it more if there was the whole pie and not a tasting plate because family style all the way!

If you came to our blogshop let us know what you thought! We might have another one so stay tuned and make sure you follow us on facebook and instagram!

 Until next time!

Siree

Turning 1!

Aloha!

Siree here. Just five days ago this little blog turned 1 and we can certainly say with unabashed pride we are growing up!

From the beginning to now we’ve gone through many stages of writing, diligent diary syncing, eating, more eating (for science!), procrastinating and idea brainstorming to finally being able to share this space with you. Seriously, whenever we look back we wished we started this idea for a blog sooner. Seeing all these young blood blogging during their uni day makes us envious about what we could have fit into our uni day beside our usual dinner/club activities/uni social event gathering/karaoke after school sessions. Though it would be interesting to show what we did get up to after study was over ahaha (we’ll never tell!).

But we’ve achieved a lot since starting and thank you for staying around, reading and commenting it means a lot to us!

And so, remember here where I said that The Hidden Thimble was gonna have something special happening for the month of October? Well here it is:

Yes! We are going to have our first pop up store to celebrate our first birthday full of lovely trinkets as I travel to the trend cities of Tokyo and Seoul!

I’ll be sourcing not only clothes but also cosmetics and there’ll be some yummy macaroons and home made treats for the store as well!

The blog store will be happening sometime in November so keep up to date on our Facebook on location and details!

Thank you for putting up with our narcissistic selfies, Siree’s questionable spelling, random rants

and just lonnnnng procrastinating periods.

It’s something we can’t seem to shake from our self improvement list.

Until next time.
