Unlike Siree, I have a serious lack of winter clothes!  I find winter too cold that I often opt for comfort rather than style (I know, the blasphemy!).

It’s still pretty cold in Sydney and during one of my winter hauls, I found these cute polkadot pants from Zara.  Loving the vintage vibes, I bought them! Also on sale (and also from Zara) I found my new favourite blouse.  The photos don’t show it that well, but it’s a really nice, casual-chic looking blouse and I absolutely love the tiny button detailing.

On a side note, this was the last shoot I did in my apartment!  Two weekends ago I moved back home with the ‘rents for a myriad of different reasons – my apartment block was going to be knocked down at some point in the near future, my house mate was moving out and finding a new one is a tedious and terrible process and also, I’m going to France in a month and the prospect of paying rent while being on holiday with the possibility of not having a house mate – or a new one that I would know nothing about – wasn’t a pleasant one.

So here I am, feeling like I’ve taken a step back in life, but marching on full forward regardless.

I have come to realise that I am no good with summer fashion. More than a normal person I have a serious lack of summer clothes with me to cycle through, unfortunately, but come autumn and I’ll be more imaginative with my style choices for sure.

Falling into old habits, I love this two-piece matchy-matchy style outfit from runaway bandits. It reminds me of the Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream perfume bottle which is my all time favourite scent. It’s super breezy as well which is really good in this hot Japan summer heat. No joke, I’m sweating buckets here in just a tee!

On a side note, I’m totally re-loving this Japanese magazine called “&Premium 11.” This one is an old edition but it’s called “Standard” and the theme is around the philosophy of slow-fashion and building a wardrobe that reflects your “standard” ideals of style choices based on quality, not quantity.

Though their displayed price tags are a bit too high for an average person to invest in one piece let alone a combined outfit in one coordination (unless you be ballin’). It’s a philosophical movement of sorts to show how you can develop a personal style. It’s something I’m really interested in for a future wardrobe overhaul but that’s another post for another day.

Until next time!

International Woolmark Prize and A/W 2016/17 Winter Wool Trends

International Woolmark PrizeInternational Woolmark PrizeInternational Woolmark Prize

This week I had the pleasure of attending the regional final of the international Woolmark prize for Australia and New Zealand. For those who don’t know, this prize celebrates outstanding fashion talents from around the globe in a competition that challenges participants to test the boundaries of merino wool.

Of the talent present on the night, Australian labels Exinfinitas and macgraw took out the competition with their unique, innovative and forward thinking designs. Macgraw stole the show with a two-piece look that showcased a soft pink overcoat with hand embroidered merino wool flowers. Inspired by the Flannel Flower native to Sydney, the piece embodied the soft woolly feel of the flower.

From luxury fashion to contemporary street wear, merino wool is soft on the skin and provides superior drape that follows the form of the wearer’s body – making it an ideal, trendy and not to mention warm must-have for winter. But if you’re not too sure where to start on the next wool piece for your closet, don’t worry! The Woolmark Company puts together a seasonal guide that curates the most inspirational emerging wool trends known as ‘The Wool Lab’.  This year, The Wool Lab has identified 7 themes for 2016/17 Autumn/Winter that are inline with the latest fashion trends.

Here’s the scoop on two of my favourites below:

Aquarius

I love how magical this shoot turned out!  I got this maxi dress from a cute little pop up store in Bondi called The Cherry Shop.  I absolutely love the details on this dress especially the little shell-like buttons that line down the center and diverge into the split.

The shoes perfectly match this dress and I love how much detail has gone into these sandals.  There are so many different textures and materials used, yet the shoes still remain relatively simple looking.  If you’re interested, these little numbers were from Aldo.

See below for detail shots!

Missing you like Candy…

Yes!  That is a lyric from Mandy Moore’s debut song back in the day.

Please be introduced to my favourite playsuit and a look that’s full of colour!  Every time I wear this playsuit I get complimented, which really is a tribute to the clothing item itself.  Not only is the print gorgeous and vibrant, there are so many unique elements to this playsuit from it’s cut out detailing, to the double straps to the cute tie up bow on the back.  Rather than trends I’m sure you’ve figured it out by now that my weakness in clothing choice stems from the uniqueness and detail in an item of clothing, rather than what the latest trend is.

Great for the beach, I paired this outfit with simple black clogs, baby pink nail polish with black speckles and simple white sunnies. Enjoy!

Autumn Sunshine

With Siree in Japan it’s been so hard to do shoots because we’d usually shoot each other’s FMLs.   However I’m proud to say now that I’ve found myself a photographer of sorts to help me out!  This is great news for you guys because now I’m hoping that my fashion posts will be a bit more frequent like they use to be.

Isn’t this white dress just gorgeous?  I’ve been meaning to shoot it for ages and finally I did.  It’s classic and simple and can easily be dressed up or down depending on your shoes and accessories.  To make it even more casual I sometimes pair it with a denim jacket.

I was super lucky to stumble across this gorgeous setting – perfect for my shoot and exactly what I was envisioning during the planning stages.  When I do a shoot, the setting is really important to me. Maybe you guys don’t realise it, but I always like my settings to match or even extend from the outfit I’m shooting.  I want each look to look somewhat magical and tell a story.  I want each look to have its own vibe and create an atmosphere.  I don’t just want to be another blogger that takes a street setting shoot for every outfit (although those are perfectly fine too – I’ve done some myself)!

I’ve also recently discovered Lightroom and I can’t even begin to imagine how I survived without it before. If you enjoy editing your photographs (as I very much do) I recommend you get it.
