FML: Let’s Make a Summer Jam

How to make A summer jam

Mixing clap beats to spinning auto tunes on loops,

here’s how to make your next mix tape jam for summer.

In your empty glass jar:

Add generous amounts of sunshine.

And a cup of clear skies mixed with the heavy scent of coconut sunscreen.

Cover under the shade of a large beach umbrella and add a pinch of something upbeat to keep the bad weather away.

Shake well and share with the company of good friends to enjoy all summer long.*

My recipe for this summer I guess? A bit different and odd but I thought it was a funny little writing exercise to start off this post.

I am for some reason listening to a lot of summer tunes both current and old recently and noticed a distinct melody hook that made you always think: “Ah, this sounds like a summer bop!”

Kind of much like this botanical leaf print! Whenever I see this print I always think “summer” and started to think how I should style this top. It wasn’t easy actually. It’s very athletic in style and would go very nicely with some yoga pants to the gym but to change this into an every day outing look, I paired it with my favourite oversized white button down shirt and added some 90’s flare details with my usual denim fringe shorts and brightly printed headband which seemed to make everything come together. It just goes to show, never be afraid to mix and match styles! You never know what you might end up with.

What songs are you listening to currently?

Until Next Time!

I love the banana-leaf print, too; it’s warm and summery while being crisp and cool. And your headband is a perfect summery splash of color.

Songs…hmmm…

Anaïs Mitchell – Before the Eyes of Storytelling Girls (https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=154&v=EAMtuTGICgw)

“I could tell you stories like the past was dead and gone
But I know nothing changes in this world.

Every day the muezzin calls,
Sun comes up and Baghdad falls,
Before the eyes of storytelling girls.

She was just a poor man’s daughter
Going down into the sultan’s bed.

He was desert, she was water,
And he remembered every word she said.

She said and I say;
Grandma, grandma,
Be with me
In your tragic wedding gown
With your long hair hanging down
And the stories tumbling out…”

The design of this outfit looks fab!!
